The Chrysler Corporation of Canada was incorporated in 1925 succeeding the Maxwell-Chalmers Motor Co. of Canada. Operations had already begun in 1924 when Chrysler and Maxwell models were built in the Maxwell plant at Tecumseh Road East at McDougall. A building on St. Luke road was leased in 1927 for the manufacture of bodies.

Construction of the forerunner of the present plant 3 was begun in 1928 in the Tecumseh Road-Drouillard area. Dodge Brothers of Canada was acquired in 1928 and Dodge models began production in 1929 along with Plymouth, Chrysler and DeSoto.

Plant 1 (Tecumseh Road at McDougall) was used for truck production until 1978 and an engine plant, built in 1938, was operated until 1980.

A variety of Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge passenger cars were manufactured at the main assembly plant till 1983 when the plant was completely renovated for the automated production of the innovative T115 Van-Wagon and Mini-Ram Vans. Ram-Vans and Ram-Wagons are produced at the Pillette Rd. Truck Plant.

In 1999 the Chrysler Corporation merged with Daimler Benz to form DaimlerChrysler and the former Chrysler Canada Ltd. changed it's corporate name to DaimlerChrysler Canada Inc.
