The Graham-Paige car was built in Canada for a brief time by Graham-Paige Motors (Canada) Ltd. of Walkerville. It was introduced in the United States in 1928 as the Graham-Paige, a product of three brothers named Graham who had earlier built the Graham Brothers truck in co-operation with Dodge Brothers. In 1926 they sold their truck business, and in 1927 bought the company that made the Paige car, introducing the Graham-Paige the following year. The Canadian assembly operation began in July, 1931, setting up shop in a factory on 172 Walker Road and later at 2470 Wyandotte St. E. Production of a new streamlined Model 57 Blue streak 8 began in January 1932, and the similarly streamlined 1933 model 58 Graham 6 went into production in June 1932. Although the Graham was a fine car, the
depression took its toll and the Canadian factory closed during the
mid-thirties. Later, Grahams were imported up to 1940, but the
Cord-bodied Hollywood model was not sold in Canada. Links Graham Owner's Club International |
