Menopause-National Institute of Health
This is an excellent visual site with many personal stories, photographs, charts, graphs, and diagrams to enhance understanding of menopause. The information provided about menopause includes frequency within the United States, what to expect (as well as house-hold remedies to help alleviate symptoms), long-term effects and treatment option discussions. There are visual diagrams showing changes of the Female Reproductive System, changes of the Vaginal and Urinary tract, location of the endocrine glands involved with menopause, and picture showing how bone density changes after menopause. National Institute of Mental Health - Women
This is an informative site that deals with the many aspects of women and mental health. Some of the topics covered include: What is depression and what are the risks, Major depression, Dysthymia, Manic-depression, Signs and Symptoms of depression and mania, Bipolar Disorder. The site also deals with the different developmental stages and mental health. Some of these include: adolescence, adulthood, reproductive stages, post-partum, pregnancy, and later adulthood. Mental health is also discussed in terms of personality and psychology, poverty, victimization, anxiety, eating disorders, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s. Treatment options such as medication and psychotherapy are also touched upon as part of the path to healing section. National Osteoporosis Foundation
This is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to “decrease the incidence and afflictions of osteoporosis, increase public awareness, provide support and fund research”. This site provides a fact sheet related to osteoporosis and its prevalence within the United States. It also provides information on prevention, risk assessment, and Bone Mineral Density test (and other related tests). The site also answers questions such as what osteoporosis is, what is its’ cause, treatments available and other frequently asked questions.

National Women’s Health Information Center
“NWHIC provides a gateway to the vast array of Federal and other women’s health information resources. NWHIC has done the work of searching for and compiling that large diverse body of knowledge into a user-friendly format. North American Menopause Society
This is a non-profit organization which is devoted to “promoting understanding and improving health” of women undergoing menopause and beyond. This is a Canadian site that is dedicated to educating the public about osteoporosis. It includes large text for easy reading.
