Canadian Liver Foundation (CLF)
The CLF is devoted to providing support for research and education of liver disorders. This bilingual site has many resources. The ‘your liver, your health’ section provides medical information about various liver diseases including hepatitis B, hepatitis C as well as liver transplantation and liver biopsies. Support services are available and you can access the locations of the many chapters in Canada in the ‘how to reach us section’. In the ‘doctor to doctor’ section bulletins of updated information are posted.

Chronic Viral Hepatitis
This American Gastroenterology Association site briefly reviews the different types of viral hepatitis, the difference between acute and chronic hepatitis, carrier status, treatments and prevention. A good place to start in aquiring hepatitis knowledge.

Hepatitis Doctor
This must visit physician run site is updated daily. It is aimed to educate patients with viral hepatitis and their medical providers. The suggested order of the links allows exponential growth in the users knowledge base. The hepatitis C section provides a potential 2-8 hours of information. There is an optional test at the end; if you pass you receive a diploma. Recommendations for other hepatitis C sites are available. The hepatitis B section has some great links, especially Teens and HBV. You can also find great links to hepatitis A news and other hepatitis resources such as childhood hepatitis and photographs of normal and diseased livers. This site provides educational material and support for people with hepatitis and their families. There are videos, pictures, a newsletter, a handbook on how to start a support group in your area and links to other hepatitis resources.

There are learning modules about ‘The Liver in Health and Disease’, slide presentations, news reports, quizzes and webcasts which are presentations by the world’s top Hepatologists. HepWATCH is their newsletter. You may find suggestions on how to tell others about your condition, community support and healthy eating habits. Patients, families and health care workers will all find information suited for their level of knowledge. Some data is accessible in French.
