Ed’s Pathology Notes – Kidney Disease
This site, a creation of Ed Friedlander (MD and pathologist), aims to explain the following: what the kidneys do, the different parts of the nephron, what each does, and what things are likely to happen when each malfunctions; the causes of acute renal shutdown and of irreversible renal failure; the many clinical consequences of uremia; and what happens in a great deal of other kidney-related syndromes. This site also displays clinical, gross, and microscopic images of various kidney diseases. Although there are no clear headings or categories, the wealth of easy-to-understand information makes this site an invaluable resource for kidney disease patients.

One section on preESRD (end-stage renal disease) is a very useful resource, arranged into a guidebook with illustrations and easy-to-understand explanations. There is also a helpful, informative section on nutrition for renal patients.
