Teacher's Aid
As the first international automobile tunnel ever built in the world, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel is an engineering feat well worth studying. There are many projects that students could create about the tunnel.
Here are a few suggestions:
- Create a time-line detailing the history of the tunnel.
- Pick a person related to the tunnel (e.g. Fred Martin, Luther Beecher) and explain their importance.
- Diagram the construction process of the tunnel.
- Describe how the ventilation system works.
- Detail the importance of the tunnel, both to Windsor and to Canada.
- What difference would adding another "link" (either bridge or tunnel) make to Windsor or Canada?
- How much would constructing the tunnel cost today?
